What our students think

We are justifiably very proud of our students, whether achieving employment at a high level or receiving prestigious awards. Their accomplishments reflect the School's high quality, innovative and relevant education in art and design.

I’m now a Games Designer at Mangahigh, where I design and make maths games. With over a million users across the world there is a massive audience for any of the games I design. These games will help make maths more exciting and engaging and hopefully lead to more people enjoying maths!

I studied a games design and digital media course at college, and since then I have expanded my skills to include coding, presenting and even team management. One of the highlights of the course has been the Games Jam with IBM, which involved presenting my ideas to the company and their associates. The experiences I’ve gained from University have been more than what I expected and this has really helped my confidence.

I now work for The Workspace as an Expansion Manager, and I also have my own online lingerie and swimwear label which I launched in 2014.

The last three years, have been some of my favourite years to date. I have met amazing friends, developed my own personal skills, and have grown in confidence. Take each day as it comes, some days are harder than others, but keep striving to do your best and you will make it.

WSA taught me a great deal about how to think logically and solve problems with creative solutions, and to always push the boundaries of what you might be capable of in a commercial environment. It also taught me not to be afraid of making mistakes, at any stage of your career. If there’s no element of risk in your creative work, then chances are it’s been done before.

Studying Fine Art at a leading University became a natural progression to really immerse myself in every aspect of art and critical thinking. This is helping me to expand my knowledge, research abilities and specialist skills to develop my fascination of transforming social, political and cultural awareness into an interpretative art form.

Being at WSA gave me the time to really figure out what direction I wanted to go in. Outside of my studies, I took part in the D&AD New Blood competition, which I won, and this really boosted my chances of getting a creative role after graduation. Ever since I started studying in the creative field during my undergraduate degree, I was told how D&AD was such a big deal, so to win the award myself has absolutely blown my mind.

I chose to study illustration as it became a natural continuation from the work I did at A-Level and at Art Foundation. Visual Communication, particularly illustration, is something I have always enjoyed.

In my second year I was lucky enough to secure an internship in Paris working in a showroom for Zimmermann during market week, through the help of my tutor, which was an incredible opportunity that definitely increased my confidence, and love for the subject.

There are so many opportunities for so many different things, that you really can’t be lost for something to do. Whether it is learning a new skill in a workshop, working within the university, an internship, or just developing your own practice.
