MA Design: Fashion Marketing and Branding at Winchester School of Art is designed to balance the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in marketing roles in international based fashion and textile brands.
This MA pathway will explore the specific marketing challenges and opportunities that exist within the world of fashion and its supporting textiles industries. The global nature of the Fashion industry, coupled with rapid advances in communication and digital technologies, have changed the nature of how we view the world of fashion and how consumers' tastes develop. In this context, the world of Fashion demands a focused and knowledge based approach to marketing.
You will critically analyse your ideas in relation to contemporary issues and theories of fashion and textile marketing from a local and global perspective. You will have the opportunity to develop the critical thinking and skills required for a successful career in Fashion & Textile Marketing, enabling you to respond positively to the changing demands of clients and consumers.

Typical entry requirements
The admissions policy for the MA Design: Fashion Marketing and Branding is based on students having a good honours degree in a relevant subject (2.2 or above) or an equivalent standard in other qualifications approved by the University.
Mature students without formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis depending on your previous experience and background in the subject.

Progression to this MA programme
You are able to progress to this MA programme via the University's Pre-Masters programme.
If you have professional experience, or credit through prior learning at another institution, you may be eligible to use this experience against some of the programme requirements for period of study. English Language Requirements
International and EU students applying for this programme are required to have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in reading and writing and a minimum of 5.5 in speaking and listening or equivalent, prior to starting the programme. Typical course content
You will work in a creative environment in which students from other programmes will be studying. You will work on projects set by your discipline and be taught by staff specific to your programme. The work which you produce will be manifested through media appropriate to your discipline and you will experience workshops specific to your programme.
This programme is studied over one year full-time and is divided into five modules, two are taken in semester 1, and two in semester 2 (one of which is an optional module selected from the list below). The last module (started in semester 2) is your Final Project and continues through the summer period (semester 3).

Students are responsible for meeting the cost of essential textbooks, and of producing such
essays, assignments, laboratory reports and dissertations as are required to fulfil the
academic requirements for each programme of study.

|Stationery||You will be expected to provide your own day-to-day stationery items, e.g. pens, pencils, notebooks, etc). Any specialist stationery items will be specified under the Additional Costs tab of the relevant module profile.|
|Books||Where a module specifies core texts these should generally be available on the reserve list in the library. However due to demand, students may prefer to buy their own copies. These can be purchased from any source.
Some modules suggest reading texts as optional background reading. The library may hold copies of such texts, or alternatively you may wish to purchase your own copies. Although not essential reading, you may benefit from the additional reading materials for the module.|

Students taking the Studio based Fashion Design and Textile Design Pathway will be required to purchase their own materials, the cost of which will vary. A student can choose the quality.|

Standard construction/modelling materials will be provided where appropriate, unless otherwise specified in a module profile.
For customisation of designs/models calling for material other than standard construction/ modelling materials, students will bear the costs of such alternatives.|
|Printing and copying||Written coursework:
In most cases, written coursework such as essays, projects and dissertations is submitted online and by hard copy. The costs of printing a hard copy for submission of such coursework will be the responsibility of the student.
The cost of photocopying will also be the responsibility of the student.

Printing for the collation of a student’s portfolio will be the responsibility of the student.|
|Other||Optional Visits (e.g. museums, galleries):
Some modules may include optional visits to a museum, galleries, or industry. You will normally be expected to cover the cost of travel, admission and food unless otherwise specified in the module profile.|
Free parking is not normally available on campus to students.|
|Travel||The Student’s Union provide a mini free bus service which runs every 2 hours between the Winchester Campus and the Highfield Campus.
Students are responsible for all other daily travel expenses.|
