Terms and Conditions - WSA Summer School

Please note: Booking has closed for the WSA Summer Schools 2017. Please check back for information on our future courses, as information becomes available.

1. Application form

Please ensure you read, understand and agree to our Terms and Conditions before you complete the application form. All applicants must be aged 18 or over when the Summer School begins on 17th July 2017.

2. Fees

2.1 The completed application form and non-refundable deposit should be submitted not later than 7th April 2017.
2.2 Upon our receipt of the form and deposit, international students will be issued with an Offer Letter to enable you to obtain a visa to enter the United Kingdom.
2.3 The balance of the course fee must be paid in full by 26th May 2017.
2.4 Your place on the course cannot be guaranteed until full payment is received.
2.5 Course fees include VAT.

3. Language proficiency

To obtain the maximum benefit from the courses, which are taught in English, it is recommended that international students are proficient in this language to a standard equivalent to IELTS 5.5, however this is NOT a requirement to join a course.

4. Withdrawals and non-attendance

4.1 If you wish to withdraw from your course, your request should be made in writing.
4.2 If your written request is received more than six weeks before the start of the course, you will be entitled to a full refund, less the non-refundable deposit, and our charge for administration of £100.
4.3 If your written request is received within six weeks of the start of the course, no refund will be made.
4.4 Non-attendance due to illness, or for personal, professional or visa reasons, does not confer the right to refunds or transfer.

5. Insurance

5.1 Students are required to have adequate health, accident, disability, and hospitalisation insurance to cover themselves during their time at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton.
5.2 Students recognise and accept that no part of the fee goes toward payment of such insurance and that the Universityhas no obligation to provide such insurance.

6. Student conduct

6.1 Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to recognise that other students also require support and assistance.
6.2 If a student is persistently disruptive, we reserve the right to offer a verbal or written warning and, if this does not resolve the situation, we may, at our discretion, ask the student to leave the School.
6.3 Students understand that should they have legal problems while in the UK, they will attend to the matter personally and with their own funds. They accept that Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton cannot provide any personal or financial assistance.

7. Force majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance, in whole or part, of any of our obligations arising from or attributable to acts, events, omissions or accidents beyond our reasonable control including, but not limited to, strikes, lockouts or other industrial disputes (whether involving our workforce or the workforce of any other party), act of God, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, accident, breakdown of plant or machinery, re, flood, storm, pandemics, epidemics or other outbreaks of disease or infection, failure in the public supply of electricity, heating, lighting, air conditioning or telecommunications equipment.

8. Further information

The course is offered at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. Every care has been taken to ensure accuracy. Whilst every endeavour will be made to provide the courses and services described, Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton reserves the right to make changes as appropriate for reasons of operational efficiency or due to circumstances, including industrial action, beyond its control.
