This page is dedicated to the outreach and teaching books I've written recently.

The vacuum, empty space, nothing, has much more structure than you might imagine. Understanding nothing has played a major role in the development of physics, from Newton's Laws to Relativity to Quantum Theory, Gravity Waves and the Higgs Boson. Here, a written version of the popular science talk by Prof Nick Evans, University of Southampton, UK, guides you through this story, from Ancient Greece to the frontier of modern physics. These books are taken from third and fourth year undergraduate Physics courses at Southampton University, UK. The aim is to move beyond the initial courses in classical mechanics, special relativity, electromagnetism, and quantum theory to more sophisticated views of these subjects and their interdependence. The goal is to guide undergraduates through some of the trickier areas of theoretical physics with concise analysis while revealing the key elegance of each subject.
