The Southampton University Goju Ryu Karate Club gives students the opportunity to learn the open handed art of Goju Ryu Karate Do from qualified professional instructors who are enthusiastic about their art.
Training is with Sensei Geoff Mitcheson (2nd Dan EGKA) on a Monday and with Sensei Simon Budden (5th Dan EGKA) on a Wednesday. All sessions take place in the SU building on Highfield campus. Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 6:45pm in the Multipurpose Studio on Level 1 and on Sundays from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in the Activities Room on Level 2.
If you have trained in Karate before, it doesn’t matter what style you are from, you may keep your grade whilst training with us.
To contact us email: gojuryu@soton.ac.uk.
Everyone is welcome to the club and we look forward to seeing you in training!
The two remaining gradings for this year will take place on the last Wednesdays of the easter term and summer term respectively. If you are eligible to grade for either date then you will be informed by Sensei Simon beforehand.
A grading will take place on the last training session of term (Wednesday 9th December). Please turn up early with a clean ironed gi and be prepared to help Sensei Simon with equipment if necessary. The grading syllabus for all grades is now on the History page. Good luck to all who grade!
All grades training with Sensei Linda Marchant
Student prices of £15 for a day or £20 for the whole weekend. Talk to Chris our club president to book a place.
