what information do we collect and how do we use it?

  • When you submit a query form, order a book or publication or join our mailing list, we need to know your name, postal address and email address. This allows us to provide the service you have requested and keep you informed of the progress of your enquiry.
  • We also ask for your phone number, which allows us to contact you urgently if there is a problem with your request.
  • We also ask about your interests to allow us to tailor our communications with you, ensuring you hear about special John Hansard Gallery events, products or services that we think you’ll find interesting. If you would like to receive this information, you may opt in by clicking the appropriate radio buttons on the submission forms you complete while visiting our site.
  • We also monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of our site to meet the needs of visitors more closely.
  • We may also occasionally use the information we collect about you to notify you of important changes to the operation of our website.

how does john hansard gallery protect “customer” information?

When you submit requests for information about our events, services or activities, and when you join our mailing list via our website, as required by the UK Data Protection Legislation, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information, which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose sensitive information to you.

The John Hansard gallery web site does not use cookies.


do we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?

The John Hansard Gallery does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. We may choose to do so in the future with organizations the John Hansard Gallery supports or is involved with, but  you can tell us not to by sending a blank e-mail message to never@hansardgallery.org.uk (If you use more than one e-mail address to communicate with us, send this message from each e-mail account you use). Also, John Hansard Gallery may provide aggregate statistics about our visitors, sales, traffic patterns and related site information to our funders and affiliated organisations, but these statistics will include no personally identifying information.
