You may be aware that the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) is under
review and there is a general invitation to contribute

http://www.hefce.ac.uk/research/).
I would recommend anyone who is concerned about the impact of the RAE on
scholarly communication, and who sees a role for the RAE in encouraging the
self-archiving of universities research output to contribute. Emails may be
sent to Vanessa Conte at rareview_at_hefce.ac.uk. The closing date is 29
November 2002.
