We are allowed to visit Meal Bank Quarry by kind permission of the Craven District Council.  This quarry may ONLY be visited at the times scheduled on the field course itinerary, the same provisions apply as for the one-day excursions.

In the quarry we will have the opportunity to examine the lithology and attitude of the Carboniferous Limestone, examine the fossil content of this rock unit, and investigate two unusual fossiliferous horizons (click photo above middle) and a palaeosol (click photo above right).
