AIMS/OBJECTIVES ITINERARY FIELD EXERCISES TOWN/MAPS MARKS SCHEME PRIOR READING ACCOMMODATION SAFETY EQUIPMENT REGISTRATION 1st YEAR MARKS FINAL REMARKS |
GY210 Ingleton Field Course: safety You should reread the guidelines on safety that have already been issued to you in the First Year Student Handbook prior to attending the fieldtrip. Any student compromising the safety of the trip will not be permitted to continue. For safety reasons, during the fieldcourse you will be mapping in pairs. It would help if you could indicate your preferred mapping partner on the form provided at the briefing meeting. If you do not indicate a mapping partner, one will be allocated to you. Please make sure that you remain with your pair in the field at all times (at the very least within earshot), and check that he/she returns from the field each day. However, both you and your pair must obtain your data independently. Any identical or near identical work will be penalised with a mark of zero. The excuse "We were working together" will not be accepted. Staff and demonstrators will be present in the field each day, and you MUST ensure that you log-in with them in the field at least once each day. In addition you are required to present and discuss your work with us, at the Bridge Inn, at least once during the first week. During the week there will be two one-day excursions, and two quarry visits. It is absolutely essential that you are on time for these visits, because we must either all travel together or enter the quarries together. Failure to attend any of these excursions without notification may result in the delay or cancellation of the trip and, for safety reasons, a search party may be sent out to find you. You will be docked financial support for the day and your cheque will be delayed. Please follow the links (left) for further information regarding the field course. |
