GY210 Ingleton Field Course: financial reimbursement & travel arrangments The School will provide an allowance of £35 towards the accommodation and subsistence costs of ALL students. In addition, further provision will be made to those students who choose to make their own way to and from Ingleton. These individuals will receive a £20 independent travel allowance. In the past there have usually been sufficient numbers of students unable to make their own way to Ingleton for the School to organise a coach to convey students both ways between Southampton and Ingleton (these students do not qualify for the additional £20 travel allowance). We regret that it is only possible to pay this money upon successful completion of the field trip, i.e. on the evening of Tuesday 27th June. To reiterate, those students who indicate that they will NOT be travelling by coach (i.e. making their own way to Ingleton) will be eligible for an extra £20 support (i.e. will receive cheques for £55). If you do not wish to travel by coach and wish to claim the additional £20, you must see or inform either the field course organiser or Cathy Gibbons(in the Academic studies Office) by 1pm on 1st May 2000 at the latest. It will not be possible to change your mind regarding travel arrangements after this date, and neither can the amount of money owing to you be changed. Having your own transport at Ingleton has the advantage that a wider range of accommodation is available, and you do not have to undertake the walk to and from the mapping area each day (up to 3 km if camping). The coach will depart from University Road, Highfield at 9am on Saturday 17th June and will travel directly to Ingleton. On the return journey, it will depart at 9.30am from the Bridge Inn, Ingleton on Wed 27th June and travel via the Oxford by-pass, Newbury, Highfield and Southampton Railway Station. The coach may stop en-route to drop you off, but will not make any diversions. Please follow the links (left) for further information regarding the field course. |
