Rajab El-Zaroug Devonian palynology & reservoir correlation in the NE Al Rar gas & oil field, NW Libya. Supervision shared with Dr. J.E.A. Marshall. Industrially funded. Successful completion of viva on 12th September 1996, returned to Libya.

David C. Cole Sequence palynology of the Lower Jurassic (Sinemurian-Toarcian) strata of Northwest Europe. NERC funded. Thesis submitted, awaiting viva.

James Coda A methodological approach to the palaeoenvironmental interpetation of Early Cretaceous dinocysts from Northwest Europe. Department/Faculty funding. Start date: Sept. 1995. Registration currently suspended, on work experience.

Munif Koraini Biostratigraphy and palynofacies analysis of Mesozoic sediments from eastern Greenland. Supervision shared with Dr. J.E.A. Marshall. Funded by Petronas/CASP. Start date: 1996. Returned to Malaysia, thesis write-up being completed. 

Adrian King Dinocysts and palynofacies as indicators of Palaeocene/Eocene palaeoclimatic change. Department/Faculty and Shell funding. Co-supervised by Dr. J. Bujak (Lexis Group, Blackpool). Started September, 1996; in advanced stages of thesis writing.

James Eldrett  The terminal Eocene/Oligocene Event in the Norwegian-Greenland Sea, an integrated micropalaeontological and geochemical investigation. Co-supervised by Prof. J. W. Murray (SOES) & Dr. J. Bujak (Lexis Group, Blackpool). NERC funded, commenced October 1999.

External, jointly-supervised PhD students:

Giles Smith (former MSc student, now at University of Bristol). A palynological and palynofacies analysis of the Jurassic/ Cretaceous boundary in Russia and Morocco. Part-time PhD, partly funded by Bristol, partly by Giles, jointly supervised with Mike Benton (University of Bristol). Awarded PhD 17th March 2000.

Carole Matthews (University of Portsmouth). A palynological and palynofacies analysis of the Jurassic/Cretaceous boundary in Dorset. Part-time PhD jointly supervised with Mike Barker (University of Portsmouth). Commenced Sept. 1998.
