All training sessions take place in the Martial Arts Suite on the bottom floor of the Southampton University Students Union. You can find directions and maps here

Tuesdays are the primary session for experienced players with an emphasis on randori and fitness.

Thursdays will incorporate a beginners course in the first term of the academic year but also provide teaching of techniques for those working through the kyu grade syllabus.

COVID Safety

There is no escaping the fact that Judo is a close contact sport, but we will be taking measures to try and minimise any risk to us all from attending sessions. It is really important that everyone adheres to the guidelines for attendance so that we can keep sessions running through the academic year

Everyone attending a session must adhere to these guidelines:

  • Wear clean training kit (whether a judogi or general sports kit)
  • If you have any cold / flu / COVID-19 symptoms you MUST NOT train
  • If you do test positive for COVID-19 after training with us, inform the club for the purpose of contact tracing

Restrictions

The club trains only during University term time (check the University website for current term dates). Because the Students Union is not open to the public, non university staff/students should contact the club about visiting us. See the Membership page about the requirements for non students wishing to join the club.

Other Local Clubs

As the university club only runs during the university team, club members can also be found training at other local clubs. The following sessions are ones that we generally attend in addition to our own sessions, or during the vacation. Lifts are usually available, particularly out of term time.
