The MUSA project VASARI scanner in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence

This is the third VASARI scanner design, covering 1x1m paintings, using 3x2k images from a 12 bit Progres camera to produce high resolution colorimetric images. At 12 pels/mm this can easily become more than a gigabyte per image. Seen here are Kirk Martinez and John Cupitt (National Gallery) installing the system.

The MUSA project was a Special action project funded by the European Community.
