GX 339-4 Outburst in 2017: Optical Timing

SALT observation of GX 339-4 on 2017 Oct 01, starting around UT 18:06. The individual exposure time bins are 0.14 s. A brighter field comparison star was observed simultaneously (light purple). The comparison star trend denotes transparency and cosmetic variations not intrinsic to the target, and these have been divided through the target light curve. Both light curves are median normalised, with an additive offset applied to the comparison star for clarity. Clear and strong flaring is present in the target light curve, well in excess of that seen in the comparison star.
