I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of University of Southampton.

I studied town and country planning and worked in town planning for twelve years before moving to Toulouse in south-west France, where I made the career switch to teaching English as a foreign language. I taught English for academic purposes at major science university, the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA). I also taught business and general English as part of the training programmes for a large number of international companies including Airbus and Siemens electronics.

Since my return to the UK in 2006, I have worked with international students at the University of Southampton. I am responsible for all aspects of the IFY and MIPS programmes including development of the teaching programme and enhancing the student experience.

Research interests

My pedagogical research interests lie in designing materials for courses, which combine teaching of key content subjects with the development of international student's English language and study skills. I am also interested in understanding the cross-cultural issues faced by international students studying at British universities.

I teach on the Contemporary Britain and Global Society core IFY modules, as well as other courses accross the International Centre.
