The four point probe can be used to calculate the sheet resistance and resistivity of a thin film sample. The tip consists of four probes in serial allignment. Once the tip is lowered and all probes are in contact with the sample surface, a current is passed between the two outer probes and the resulting voltage drop is measured between the two inner probes.
