Southampton graduate in New Year’s Honours list

Southampton Aeronautics and Astronautics graduate, Professor Richard Holdaway has been awarded a CBE in recognition of his remarkable services to Science and Technology.

Richard completed his undergraduate degree at Southampton in 1970 and a PhD in Astronautics four years later.

During his career, Richard has worked on missions in Space Science and Earth Observation with NASA, ESA, China and Russia. He was a Member of Council of the University of Southampton and is a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Southampton and Kent in the UK and the Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics in China. 

Richard comments: "I wouldn't have received the honour of a CBE without the fantastic foundation that the University of Southampton gave me during my six years there."
