Are you interested in how cinema can deepen our understanding of ageing and the life course?</p> <p>Join the Centre for Research on Ageing at the University of Southampton for <em>Reel Reflections</em> &mdash; a special event supported by the British Society of Gerontology (BSG). This interactive session invites participants to explore themes of ageing&comma; memory&comma; and identity through the lens of classic film.</p> <p>Featured Film:<br /> <em>Wild Strawberries</em> (1957)&comma; directed by Ingmar Bergman<br /> Follow the introspective journey of a 78-year-old professor as he travels to Lund University&comma; confronting memories and people from his past. To celebrate&amp;comma; we are organising a Gerontology Reunion on Friday&amp;comma; 19th June 2026&amp;comma; at the University of Southampton. We aim to bring together as many former Gerontology students&amp;comma; staff&amp;comma; and visitors as possible. The event will provide opportunities to network&amp;comma; reminisce&amp;comma; and share experiences of studying and working in the area of Ageing/Gerontology. <p>(Please note that the timing for the event falls on the Friday before the British Society of Gerontology&rsquo;s (BSG) Emerging Researchers in Ageing (ERA) Conference (22nd-23rd June) and the BSG Annual Conference (24th-26th June 2026)&comma; both taking place in Oxford&comma; which is within easy reach by train from Southampton.)</p> <p>If you are a former student or staff and haven&#39;t already received an email about this&comma; we probably don&#39;t have an up to date email address for you!
