Event details

PopFest is an annual interdisciplinary population studies conference for postgraduate students, organised by fellow postgraduates. An uniquely informal, yet informative event, PopFest aims to bring together research students from a variety of disciplines with a common interest in population. This conference provides the ideal environment for postgraduates to present their work, further their knowledge and network with others in the field.

The University of Southampton is pleased to host PopFest from the 8th to the 10th July 2013. This year's theme 'Coming of Age' marks PopFest's 21st birthday and return to its birthplace as Southampton hosted the very first conference in 1992. In order to celebrate the return of PopFest to Southampton, the remit of the conference will be expanded through the inclusion of a training day designed to enhance delegates' future career prospects.

We are also pleased to announced Professor David Martin, co-Director of the both the ESRC UK Data Service and the ESRC National Centre for Research Methods, will be our conference keynote speaker. Doctor Diana Lopez-Falcon, of Population Europe, will also provide the conference plenary. For more information on these speakers and their discussion refer to the Conference Speaker Bios.
