Mentors and educators

Supervisor development is essential to ensuring that the teaching, learning and assessment of students is underpinned by effective preparation of Educators and Mentors to be Practice Facilitators.

The Faculty offers a programme which prepares registered professionals to achieve the standards required to become an Educator/Mentor through to Teacher (NMC 2008, HCPC 2012). Details of the programme are available by clicking Facilitating Assessment and Learning and in Practice Settings (ALPS) on the navigation panel.

Educators and Mentors need to keep up-to-date with programme requirements in order to continue to facilitate learning in practice and make decisions about the suitability of individuals to go on to the register. Therefore, the Faculty runs a number of Mentor Updates for nurses and midwives and an Educator Development Programme for Allied Health Professionals with Educator Briefings. Details of the Mentor Updates and Educator Briefings can be found on navigation panel.
