Please see tables below for all dates and locations for training.  All training will take place on Highfield campus, Unversity Road, SO17 1BJ.  Once you have decided which session you would like to attend, please email cpdcontracts@soton.ac.uk to book your place.

The updates provide an opportunity to share experiences and review practice.  Five themes will be covered, including:
  1. Faculty, Curriculum Update
    • Overview of practice placements
    • Applying assessment principles in a practice-based setting
    • Facilitating and grading levels of performance fairly
  2. Developing Supervision and Feedback Skills
    • Standards/accreditation in practice education,
    • Identifying and reviewing good supervision practice
  3.  Managing Students with Learning Differences/Disabilities/Cultures
    • Applying principles of learning
    • Legal responsibilities, making reasonable adjustments, and fair assessments
  4. Supervising Challenging Students
    • Managing unexpected/difficult situations
    • Grading and failing students
    • Importance of evidence, feedback and reporting
  5. Facilitating Clinical Reasoning and Reflection
    • Problem solving / evidence based practice
    • Personal and professional reflection (reflective tools and techniques)
Attendance:
Those educators with previous experience of working with Southampton students who need a 3 yearly update.
