Terms and Conditions

  1. The prize draw is being run by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Southampton, Building 37, Southampton, SO17 1BJ, United Kingdom
  2. This competition is limited to residents in the UK who are alumni of the University of Southampton and over 18 years of age.
  3. In entering the prize draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win.
  4. Anyone connected in any way with the creation/implementation of the competition or their families will not be permitted to enter.
  5. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
  6. The competition will commence at 00:01 GMT on 18 November 2019 and all entries must be received by 23:59 GMT on 13 January 2019.
  7. The University accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, ineligible, corrupted or fail to be submitted by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
  8. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid.
  9. Entrants may only submit one survey response, equating to one entry in the competition.
  10. To enter, entrants must have completed the 2019/20 alumni & supporter survey.
  11. Any entries deemed inappropriate by members of the Office of Development & Alumni Relations Team (including but not limited to, the inclusion of profanity) will be disqualified.
  12. There is one top tier prize available:
    a.1 x trip to Southampton for the winner and 3 friends, including travel (to the total value of £400), accommodation for 2 sharing for 2 nights (up to the total value of £350) and a tour of campus.
    b. All travel and accommodation values are per group, not per person.
    c. Where travel or accommodation exceeds these set values, you will be expected to pay the difference.
    d. Friends accompanying the winner of the trip do not need to be University of Southampton alumni.
  13. 13. There are also ten runner up tier prizes available:
    a. 10 x University branded hoodies.
  14. Winners will be picked at random within two weeks of the competition closing. Winners will be contacted privately via e-mail or telephone to arrange receipt of their prize.
  15. The University will attempt to contact winners by email or telephone up to two times. The winners and runners up must claim their prizes within 14 days of notification. If prizes are unclaimed after this time, they will lapse and the University reserves the right to offer any unclaimed prizes to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules. Please allow min of 15 days for delivery of the prize.
  16. The University’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  17. Prizes are non-transferrable and no cash alternative will be offered.
  18. Prizes are subject to availability. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the University reserves the right (a) to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or foreclose the competition without notice. No correspondence will be entered into.
  19. The University’s use of any particular brands as prizes does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement of such brands.
  20. For the purposes of Data Protection, the data controller is the University of Southampton and any inquiries may be addressed to The University will not disclose your data to any third parties except with your consent or as required by law. All personal details will only be used for the purposes of conducting the competition and/or for delivery of the Prize.
  21. All personal information shall be used in accordance with the University’s Data Protection Policy, accessible on our Privacy page.
  22. Winners agree to participate in any reasonable publicity related to the prize draw which may include the publication of their name and photograph in any media.
  23. By entering this competition each entrant confirms that their submissions are their wholly-owned creations and that, to the extent that such entries make use of any third party materials, these have been fully cleared unless they are no longer protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  24. By submitting an entry, each entrant grants the University a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to edit, publish, translate, modify, adapt, make available and distribute the entry throughout the world in any media now known or hereafter invented.
  25. To obtain details of the winners, please email stating the name of the competition in the subject heading within 4 weeks of the closing date.
  26. You are providing your submission to the University of Southampton and not to any other party.
  27. These terms and conditions are governed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
