Professor Jussi Parikka, director of AMT research group at WSA, is one of the three invited keynote speakers this week at the Open Fields-event in Riga. The event is part of the RIXC Art Science Festival 2016.

The conference focuses on "new aesthetics, contemporary conditions, digital practices and the post-media situation. Since the first festival took place twenty years ago, the festival has grown and developed into an annual gathering for international scholars and artists working at the intersection of arts, humanities and science. The Open Fields Festival edition aims to present the most innovative approaches in artistic research, and to discuss the changing role of the arts, their transformative potential, and relation to the sciences.”

Parikka’s talk is on art methods, data culture and cultural institutions, and stems from his work as part of the Internet of Cultural Things-project.
