AMT is again heavily involved in this year’s transmediale festival of art and digital culture in Berlin. As one of the official partners of the event, Winchester School of Art’s academics Ryan Bishop and Jussi Parikka have also this year planned part of the academic content and other activities.

The theme “ever elusive” investigates new forms of agency and activism in contemporary culture and also includes the major exhibition Alien Matter. AMT is involved in multiple panels on becoming environmental of technology, contemporary forms of material art practices as well as for example art and infrastructure. For example PhD student Abelardo Gil-Fournier is presenting at the festival. In addition, Associate Professor Alessandro Ludovico’s new project The Temporary Library will be launched as an integral installation in transmediale 2017.

One major part of the 30th anniversary festival is the new book, co-edited by transmediale and AMT academics. Across and Beyond is the first transmediale reader. It address post-digital culture, practices and institutions through chapters written by some of the leading contemporary theorists and artists. The book’s themes have also structured the excursion-days (Imaginaries, Interventions, Ecologies) that take place in Berlin over the month of February 2017.

The book is published by Sternberg Press and launched at the festival.
