AMT is partnering with the Residual Media Depot at Concordia University, Montreal. Together with Darren Wershler (Concordia) and Lori Emerson (Boulder, Colorado) AMT Co-Director Jussi Parikka is leading a workshop and seminar on media archaeology in May 2017.

The workshop is for an international selection of students, and AMT is also represented by Postgraduate researcher-artist Abelardo Gil-Fournier. The seminar on “media archaeology” discusses material practices of labs and depots of media history, infrastructure as well as contemporary media theory, such as the cultural techniques-approach.

The workshop is part of a longer partnering between AMT and the Residual Media Depot as well as the book project What is a Media Lab? jointly authored by Parikka, Emerson and Wershler.
