Post-doctoral research on copy art histories

This Spring AMT is hosting Dr. Beatriz Escribano Belmar as visiting post-doctoral scholar. She earned her Ph.D. in Arts and New Media in 2017 with the Doctoral Thesis “Copy Art Histories: The emergence of the photocopy machine in the 20th century art and its role as Historical Media Art. Tendencies and thematic cartography of Copy Art”.

Her research at WSA will continue this topic and research the artistic practices that emerged from the transgressive use of the photocopier in the UK. She is interested in the revolutionary associations and independent publications as a mark of its identity. Related to these topics, she has curated exhibitions such as "Processes: The Artist and the Machine. The audiovisual as register and memory in Media Art" (2014), and she collaborated with Oliver Grau in ADA, Archive of Digital Art project during a research stay at the Danube University in Krems an der Donau (Austria), as well as other scholars in the Digital Media Lab at the University of Bremen (Germany) and in CITU Laboratoire Paragraphe at the Université Paris 8 in Paris (France).
