AMT Directors Curate Exhibition at UC San Diego Gallery
AMT directors Ryan Bishop and Jussi Parikka have curated a show Earth/Sky that opens in San Diego at the Calit2 gallery, which is widely known for its cutting edge work at the intersection of art and technology. The show that deals with artists’ engagement with aerial vision, environmental issues and contemporary infrastructures of visuality. Bishop and Parikka were invited to curate the show and draw from their own current research into these questions. “EARTH/SKY” features the work of three artists -- Heba Y. Amin, Femke Herregraven and Susan Schuppli — who explore how the meeting of earth and sky is imagined, realized, subverted, represented and manufactured within complex ecologies of time, finance, science, technology, aesthetics and power. The show opens on March 7th and also includes an additional special screening of Susan Schuppli’s vertical cinema piece Atmospheric Feedback Loops. The panel will also feature Herregraven’s artistic talk and Bishop and Parikka offering a curatorial link between the artistic methods and current theoretical discussions.
