Event details

You are invited to a short talk and informal discussion about The Elastic System, which is currently on display in the foyer of Hartley Library. Jussi Parikka, media theorist and Professor in Technological Culture and Aesthetics at Winchester School of Art, will be speaking in front of the piece on Monday 30 January at 4pm. The talk is organized by AMT affiliated scholar Dr Jane BIrkin.

The Elastic System is an interactive piece produced by Richard Wright as artist in residence at the British Library, and first installed at the BL in September 2016. The residency was part of an AHRC-funded project, The Internet of Cultural Things.

Professor Parikka (co-investigator on the project) will discuss The Elastic System and the wider project, which was designed to develop innovative approaches to new cultural data by examining the digital traces created by the everyday interactions that make up library life.
