ANTC Showcase

Here you can find some of the interesting research results, pictures and videos of a number of recent research projects within ANTC.

Clean Sky Project

The project investigated the use of pulse jet as actuation to delay the flow separation on a high-lift device (a flap of a 2-element wing). Iterative learning control is employed to optimise the performance and results show that a 20% lift enhancement is achievable.

Plasma Actuator

Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma actuator is a type of actuator for aerodynamic flow control. This video domenstrates how a simple DBD plasma actuator works. The induced ionic wind can change the flow behaviour and hence enables lift enhancement or noise reduction.

Prediction of Engine Fan Noise Propagation

This video shows multi-frequency acoustic waves traveling inside an aero-engine bypass duct and radiating in rear of the engine where a mean flow shear layer exists. The acoustic field is predicted using a newly developed linearised divergence equation model which admits multi-frequency acoustic contents and is unconditional stable in a mean flow shear layer.
