Southampton Archaeology seventh in Guardian league tables

Published: 8 June 2010

Southampton came seventh in the list of the best archaeology departments in the country in The Guardian University Guide for 2011

Southampton came seventh in the list of the best archaeology departments in the country in The Guardian University Guide for 2011, maintaining our commitment to the highest quality teaching. The rankings are based purely on teaching quality, and include data drawn from the National Student Survey. Most importantly, 95 per cent of students said they were satisfied with the quality of the course overall, and 93 per cent with the quality of the teaching.

Southampton was second in terms of Value Added, which compares students’ degree results with their entry grades. As Southampton was also sixth in the country for research in archaeology in the recent Research Assessment Exercise, these rankings demonstrate our excellence in both teaching and research.
