Archaeology hosts international conference Insight from Innovation: New Light on Archaeological Ceramics
The Department of Archaeology pays tribute to Emeritus Professor David Peacock and his pioneering contributions to the study of archaeological ceramics.
Professor Peacock's enthusiasm and expertise were instrumental in the establishment of ceramic and lithic studies as a branch of archaeological science. The study of ceramics from archaeological sites is still a thriving field of research in the Department today.
The conference which takes place from 19th to 21st October, will bring together specialists who explore applications of recent techniques and new perspectives to archaeological ceramics. Some such approaches may be in their infancy, while others have reached a more mature stage. Either way, the conference offers a forum in which their impact on the study of archaeological ceramics can be assessed and debated, and from which our field may evolve through cross-fertilization of ideas and methods.
