Archaeology at Southampton is pleased to announce a range of PhD funding opportunities.

AHRC South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership
Following the AHRC’s announcement of £14.2 million funding for the South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership over a five year period, a number of studentships are available to those wanting to work with scholars at Southampton. We encourage eligible applicants interested in this funding route to contact either Dr Jo Sofaer or Dr Fraser Sturt to discuss their application as well as perusing the consortium website. All applicants will need to submit an online expression of interest form via the consortium website by 13 January 2014. This will be followed by a Consortium Open Day on 22 January 2014, before the deadline for final applications on the 21 February.

University Scholarships
In addition to the AHRC Doctoral training centre, the following scholarships are available:

  • University of Southampton Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships (7.000 per annum for three years)
  • Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute Scholarship (10.000 per annum for three years)

These are awarded on a competitive basis and as such we recommend you discuss potential projects with a member of staff. Details of all our academics and their research interests can be found here.

For all funding applications you need to complete a University of Southampton application and a Humanities Funding Form by 14 February 2014.
