Event details

Presented by Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Culture.

The Reuter Lecture is an established lecture in memory of Professor Tim Reuter, formerly Professor of Medieval History at the University of Southampton. It reflects Tim's immense influence in the development of historiography and his commitment to interdisciplinary research. We are delighted that this tradition will be continued this year with Nick Vincent's lecture. Nick is a stimulating and engaging speaker and his talk will be a wide-ranging study of the early English aristocracy and their connection with Europe.

Nicholas Vincent grew up in Kent before studying at Oxford. He has since held positions in Cambridge, Canterbury, Paris and Poitiers. He divides his time between Paris and Norwich and is engaged in editing the charters of the Plantagenet kings of England, from Henry II to King John. He has published nearly 100 academic articles and a dozen books, most recently A Brief History of Britain 1066-1485 .

Refreshments will be served at 5:30 and a drinks reception will follow the lecture.
