Part of the Archaeology Seminar Series

Recent research has located quarries from which Stonehenge's famous Welsh bluestones were extracted in the Neolithic.  While the question of just how these megaliths were transported over such a long distance to Stonehenge continues to intrigue, the more difficult question of 'why' requires a broader consideration of the significance of the stones and their context within Neolithic society.
