Research project: Divine restoration - Dormant - Dormant

Currently Active:

Members of Archaeology have developed a series of three-dimensional computer graphics to form part of a new exhibition exploring the past, present and future of Holy Rood Church at the Museum of Archaeology in Southampton.

Project Overview

Holy Rood was destroyed by an incendiary bomb in 1940, and years of exposure to the elements have left the surviving masonry in a poor state. A substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund has helped fund the consolidation and renovation of the church, and also the new exhibition. The church is a War Memorial and thus the work also forms a part of VE Day commemoration.
