Jordon is Palestine Committee
The Jordan Is Palestine Committee is an organisation with the stated aims: (1) to show that Palestinian Arabs are not a homeless people; (2) to show that Israel is only one-fifth of mandated Palestine; (3) to show that Jordan is Arab Palestine; (4) to show that the real problem is the continual rejection of Israel – in any part of former Palestine; (5) to help advance the peace process by making these facts widely known.
About the collection
The collection contains the following material: members lists; papers on the ‘Israeli position’, including leaflets from the Council for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding (CAABU) and the CAABU Religious Affairs Group, 1983-90; papers regarding ‘Jews in Arab lands’ including correspondence with MPs and MEPs, 1989-92; papers regarding the Palestine Liberation Organisation and West Bank arguments, including papers, press cuttings and pamphlets, 1997-92; correspondence with David Singer, founder of the International Jordan is Palestine Committee, 1979-93; guidelines on media communication, c.1980s; printed journals and newsletters regarding Israel and the Middle East, 1980-90; printed material from the Council for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding and papers from other, mainly pro-Arab, organisations, 1973-88; pro-Arab and pro-Israeli material relating to the Palestine Liberation Organisation, 1975-89; publications and magazines containing JIP advertisements or sympathetic articles, 1975-90; press cuttings from the British and Israeli press, some in Hebrew script, c.1975-97; papers from the Jordan is Palestine International Conference, 1985; printed material including posters, business cards, publicity leaflets, pamphlets and journals, 1970-92; photographs, probably from the Second International Jordan is Palestine Conference in Jerusalem, c.1988; audio cassette tapes including recordings of conferences, speeches and radio programmes, c.1981-91; and VHS video tapes on the Netanyahu conference in Jerusalem and on anti-Semitism.
