MS 369 Papers relating to the management of Palmerston family estates in Ireland

The Temple family, Viscounts Palmerston, owned estates in County Sligo and Dublin, Ireland. The landlord and title holder for the period for which the majority of this collection dates was Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston.

About the collection

The collection contains 273 items, mostly correspondence between Messrs Stewart and Kincaid, Dublin agent of the Palmerston family Irish estates, and local agents in Dublin and Sligo. Some of the letters have been annotated by a more recent hand.

The collection also contains a smaller amount of twentieth century material; it is interspersed with twentieth century transcripts and extracts from related contemporary letters. There are some photocopies of correspondence and there are also working papers relating to a publication on the Palmerston Irish estates.
