MS 371 Henriques family papers

The collection contains series of papers: general family papers; a large series of papers of individuals and business papers.

The general family papers, 1850-1965, include genealogical papers; albums of photographs, of individuals, 1860s-70, of the countryside, riders for a hunt, of members of the Montefiore family and of scenery in Great Britain, Switzerland and France, c.1906, and of pictures hung in various rooms at 139 Harley Street, 1872; a scrapbook, 1855-1922, which includes two copies of a silhouette of Alice R.Henriques, 1911; dance cards, 1868-78; correspondence, 1855-1957.

Papers of individuals: of Sir Marcus Samuel, first Viscount Bearsted, and his wife Fanny Elizabeth, Lady Bearsted, as Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of London, 1902-3, and three volumes of obituaries and reports of their funerals, 1927; of Margaret Rebecca Beddington (Mrs Julian Henriques), 1905-10; Winifred Grace Beddington, 1893-6; Benjamin Gompertz, 1817-65; Abigail Henriques, 1834; Agnes Charlotte Lucas (Mrs David Henriques), 1873-4; Basil Henriques, 1961-2; David Henriques, c.1860-1912; Elizabeth Henriques, nee Waley, 1838-79, post 1919; Jacob Henriques, 1831, 1835, 1842; Julian Henriques and his wife Margaret, 1889-1955; Robert Henriques, 1902, 1918-52;, 1967; Sybil Henriques, 1896, 1905-11; Vivien Doris Henriques, nee Levy, 1916-20; William Henriques, 1874, 1895; Nellie Samuel, Mrs Basil Ionides, formerly Mrs Walter Henry Levy, 1914, 1926-62; Juliana Lucas, nee Gompertz, 1858, 1867; Louis Arthur Lucas, including relating to his exploration in Africa, 1867-76; Rose Micholls, 1877; Judith, Lady Montefiore, 1838; Sir Robert Waley Cohen, 1904-5.
