Introduction to transport section

Directions from:

London Heathrow Airport

Taxi: More economical to use a specialised airport collection service, e.g. English Rose Collection .  Four or more can travel together for little or no additional cost.  Journey time approximately 1 hour 10 min to 1 hour 30 min to conference venue.
National Express Coach Company: Book online or buy tickets at airport for Southampton Coach Station ; alternatively take a coach to Woking and then the train to Southampton Central Railway Station .  Both routes will take just over 2 hours.

London Gatwick Airport

Train: From Gatwick Airport take train to Southampton Central Railway Station. Approximately 2 hours.
Taxi: Use specialised taxi company such as that mentioned above English Rose Collection .  Approximately 2 hours.
National Express Coach Company: Book online or buy tickets at airport for Southampton Coach Station. Approximately 2 hours 40 min to 3 hours.

Southampton International Airport

Flights from various European airports including, Paris-Orly, Paris-CDG, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Dijon, Stavanger, Alicante, Bergerac, Brussels, Dublin, Limoges, Malaga, Rennes.

Taxi: Take a local taxi to Highfield House or Glen Eyre Halls. Approximately 15 to 20 min.
Bus: The Uni-link bus service U1C operates between Southampton Airport, the city centre and waterfront (runs every 15 minutes). Closest bus stop to meeting venue is (http://www.unilinkbus.co.uk). Journey time approximately 35 min.

Bournemouth International Airport

About 30 miles from Southampton, this airport serves several European destinations; mostly charter flights and budget airlines, but may be worth checking.
Taxi: Journey time approximately 40 min.

Southampton Central Railway Station

A 10minute taxi ride to Highfield House Hotel, Glen Eyre Halls and Conference Venue.

Southampton Coach Station

A 10mins taxi ride to Highfield House Hotel, Glen Eyre Halls and Conference Venue.

By car

Southampton is just 75 miles (120km) from London and 21 miles (35km) from the Channel ports.  The M3, M27 and A34 provide fast, direct access while the A36 is the main route to the West Country, Bristol and Wales.

From the M3 – exit at junction 14, following signs for Southampton (A33). Follow the A33 into Bassett Avenue and follow the map/signs to University campuses.

From the M27 (west or east) – leave the M27 at junction 5 (Southampton Airport) and follow the map/signs to University campuses.
