BATHE Study

The BATHE team

The BATHE study is being funded by the Health Technology Assessment Programme at the National Institute for Health Research. This is part of the UK Department of Health. For more about the study please look at the Information sections on the BATHE homepage.

The BATHE study is being run at the Universities of Southampton, Cardiff and Bristol, supported by the Centre for Evidence Based Dermatology at the University of Nottingham, particularly Amanda Roberts, Kim Thomas and Hywel Williams.

Amanda Roberts has two children with eczema and is an experienced participant and patient involvement representative on a number of bodies, including the Patient Panel at the Centre for Evidence Based Dermatology. Amanda is in contact with many carers of children with eczema through running the Nottingham Support Group for Carers of Children with Eczema and through Twitter.

Kim Thomas is deputy-director of the Centre for Evidence Based Dermatology at the University of Nottingham. She has extensive experience in the design and conduct of dermatology trials, including the HTA-funded Softened Water Eczema trial (SWET) and is Programme Manager for a NIHR programme grant that includes an update of the HTA systematic review of treatments for eczema, a James Lind Alliance eczema prioritisation exercise and supporting an international initiative to establish core outcome measures for use in eczema trials.

Hywel Williams is a dermatologist and director of the Centre for Evidence Based Dermatology. He has carried out research into a range of dermatological conditions, particularly atopic eczema in children.
