Angela Nightingale, Chair of EAB, JP, BEd(Hons)

Angela is a qualified teacher with over 36 years of experience in working with young people; the last eighteen years have been focused on children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Complex Needs, Asperger Syndrome and Challenging Behaviours.  She was Head of two specialist residential schools and developed The Wing Centre, opened by Lorna Wing, which is a service for young adults with Asperger Syndrome.  She became the Education Operations Director for the Cambian Group, responsible for leading, supervising and managing seven schools and colleges and eleven registered care homes.  She developed the service to include a range of homes for young deaf people with challenging behaviours.  Under Angela’s leaderships all the schools were rated “Outstanding” by OFSTED, the regulatory and inspection body for education, and all the registered care homes were 100% compliant under the regulatory and inspection body of the Care Quality Commission.

Angela also served as a Justice of the Peace for sixteen years chairing both Adult and Youth Courts.

She has developed and led training programmes in mainstream, special schools, universities and speaks at conferences both nationally and internationally.  She has also delivered training to the police, prison officers and legal services.

In recognition of her services to special education the Cambian Group have named an ASD service after her.

She is currently Chair of the University of Southampton CfBS EAB and is a guest lecturer.
