One of the highlights of the year was a three month placement working at the University’s neuroscience laboratory. I wrote up my research into the causes of Alzheimer’s Disease and presented a poster at the annual conference of the Southampton Neuroscience Group.

“I came to study at the University of Southampton from Sao Paulo after winning a Science without Borders scholarship from the Brazilian Government. The one year exchange was amazing and I would say it has been a life changing experience for me.

“I have learned so much about different cultures and have made so many new friends during my time in Southampton. One of the highlights of the year was a three month placement working at the University’s neuroscience laboratory. I wrote up my research into the causes of Alzheimer’s Disease and presented a poster at the annual conference of the Southampton Neuroscience Group.

“On returning home, I will try to get a placement in the pharmaceutical industry to learn more about research in a different environment as I love learning new things.”
