Research interests

Dr Golestan Hashemi’s research interests lie in the areas of biotechnology, computational biology, and bioinformatics. She works on CRISPR-based technologies for genome editing purposes. She also applies bioinformatics and cutting-edge tools to analyse omic datasets. Furthermore, Dr Golestan Hashemi employs proteomics techniques to uncover the mechanisms of asymmetric cell divisions (ACDs) during mammary gland development and homeostasis, and the mechanisms of epithelial differentiation and architecture. To this end, a combination of 3D organoids, CRISPR-based gene editing, shotgun proteomics and bioinformatics technologies is applied to discover novel proteins governing ACDs.
