Dr Negusse Tadesse joined the Epigenetics Research Group in 2017 as Research Fellow. Following his PhD in computational biology, developing models for the action of anti-apoptotic proteins in cancer, he worked as bioinformatician in a biotech company. He is currently working on the analysis of epigenomic data to understand the implications of gestational diabetes.

Career history

2017–present: Research Fellow in Bioinformatics, University of Southampton, UK.
2016: Bioinformatician, PhoreMost Ltd, Cambridge, UK.

Academic qualifications

2011-2015: PhD. Computational Biology, University of South Wales, UK.
2009-2010: MSc. Bioinformatics, Cardiff University, UK.
2004-2006: MSc. Biodiversity, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
1995-1999: BSc. Biological Science, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.

Research interests

Through my studies in biodiversity I became interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of genetic variation. My research interests include:

  • Applying bioinformatics to analyse multidimensional omic datasets.
  • The impact of epigenetics on genome function.
  • Developing pipelines for NGS data analysis.
