Research interests

My research focuses on the immunology of two independent contagious cancers circulating in the Tasmanian Devil, an endangered marsupial.

My PhD used a proteomics led approach to identify the cellular origins and evolution of these cancers, and used this information to inform targeted analysis and identification of candidate vaccine targets.

My Postdoctoral research expands on my PhD conclusions and focuses on how these contagious cancers avoid the Tasmanian Devil immune system to spread between hosts, and whether it is possible to exploit these mechanisms to improve the immune responses.

PhD Title: Investigating Cellular Origins to Identify Peptide Vaccine Targets in two Independent Transmissible Tumours Circulating in the Tasmanian Devil

PhD Supervisor: Dr Hannah V Siddle

Funding: The Leverhulme Trust, Identifying peptide candidates for a vaccine against the contagious cancer, Devil Facial Tumour Disease RPG-2015-103
