Graduates celebrate in the sunshine
Hundreds of Biological Sciences graduates celebrated with their family and friends in the sunshine to mark the end of their studies at the University of Southampton.
After receiving their certificates at a ceremony at the Turner Sims Concert Hall and Nuffield Theatre, they enjoyed a summer buffet on campus.
At the reception, academics paid tribute to the graduates' hard work and presented graduates with achievement and progression awards.
BSc Biochemistry graduate Steve Hornsey was supported by his father David who had graduated from Southampton himself in 1980: "My Dad studied electrical engineering, but it was a coincidence that I came here too," he says. "I chose it because it's a respected university with an excellent biochemistry course with plenty of options. I know my career prospects will be good."
Connor Butler, a BSc Zoology graduate, adds: "During my studies I was part of the student society BioSoc and was education rep for Biology and Zoology. I really enjoyed the first year field trip to Spain and travelled to Peru to carry out research for my dissertation into the ecology of caymans."
