I chose Southampton mainly because I wanted to study a postgraduate course in Neuroscience abroad, I specifically wanted to study in a quality university, where I could also improve my English. When I found out that the Mexican government had scholarships in collaboration with the University of Southampton, I started looking for information; I liked the modules and the way in which the program is structured so I applied and here I am.

 

It has been an enriching experience, in multiple aspects; In addition to the modules, I like the examples and strategies that teachers use in the teaching-learning process. I like the fact that there are many students from different parts, it transforms the academic and university environment into an intercultural experience.

The academic support has been very satisfying. Since before my arrival the directors of the masters and staff of the international department were in contact, updating me and helping me with paperwork, dates, etc. Being now here the professors, directors and the department of international students have been supporting me with any doubt in relation to marking, assignments, and projects.

Studying here has been an enriching experience, in multiple aspects; In addition to the modules, I like the examples and strategies that teachers use in the teaching-learning process. I like the fact that there are many students from different parts, it transforms the academic and university environment into an intercultural experience. I like the transportation system, even if you live relatively far from the campus, most buses pass near the school. Something I would like to emphasize is the relevant role and support of the student union, they are so organized that they promote multiple recreational, educational and social events; and they have been able to generate spaces (pubs, cafes, shops, etc.) for the student community.

What I appreciate the most is to be able to work with my research project in the topic that I am passionate about (the role of immune system cells with schizophrenia). My highlights of studying here include: the culture, places and new people I've met, the society of Latin American students (MexSoc), among many other things, turn everything into a complete life experience.

After completing my degree my vision and motivation is clear, study a PhD degree in schizophrenia research; and through that, continue generating learning and experience in the biological research field.
