Miss Bronwyn Westmore BSc (Hons)

MRes Advanced Biological Science student

Miss Bronwyn Westmore's photo

Bronwyn Westmore is an MRes Advanced Biological Science student within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton.

I graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2019 with a first-class honours in BSc Biology.

My undergraduate dissertation aimed to provide proof of gene duplication in snake venom genes. The results also suggested the possible mechanism of gene duplication.

Research interests

Why I chose MRes Advanced Biological Science

I chose to study an MRes in Advance Biological Science as it affords the opportunity to learn the base skillset for a research scientist. The prospect of undertaking a project for 12 months was also very appealing as any previous undergraduate research was on a much reduced timeline.

Aims for the future

After my MRes I hope to complete a PhD in epigenetics. Overall I would like to pursue a career in research and academia – with the ultimate goal of one day becoming a professor.
