Mr Joe Chouhan is a Postgraduate Research Student based at University Hospital Southampton, investigating the effectiveness of antibody delivery and treatment in models of chronic neurodegeneration.

Academic qualifications

2012-2016: MSci Pharmacology with Study in Industry. University of Bristol, UK.

Research interests

My current work is focussed on potential treatments for dementias, in particular looking at antibody delivery across the blood brain barrier. Antibody technology from MedImmune will provide us with blood brain barrier crossing antibodies aimed at halting disease progression.

During the 3rd year of my degree, I worked at Janssen Pharmaceutica optimising an assay for the detection of aggregated disease-related tau and the screening of aggregate reducing compounds in cellular and primary tauopathy models of Alzheimer’s disease.

PhD Supervisor: Prof. Jessica Teeling
PhD Research: Enhancing antibody delivery across the blood brain barrier as a therapeutic strategy for dementia.
Funding provider: MRC Case Studentship, in conjunction with MedImmune.
