Yuden Tamang is an MRes Advanced Biological Science student within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Studied Biomedical Science (BSc) at the University of Southampton graduating in 2020 with First Class Honours.

My third-year dissertation focused on the role of vascular endothelial growth factors and the coupling between osteoblasts and endothelial cells during bone healing with application of hypoxia mimetics. The title includes In vitro bone repair: The paracrine effect of hypoxic osteoblast-derived factors on endothelial cell proliferation and migration.

Research interests

For my MRes project I will be generating in vitro 2D and 3D multicellular models of osteosarcoma which will be used for characterisation of osteosarcoma matrix signatures. Followed by incorporation of macrophages to better model the complex tumour microenvironment.

Why I chose MRes Advanced Biological Science

I chose MRes ABS because it is a great opportunity to complete a focused research project and develop research skills while furthering acadamic knowledge.

Aims for the future

After my MRes I hope to take forward the skills I have learned and contribute to the advancement of prognosis and treatments for medical conditions.
